Sadie is originally from Yellowknife, though she now calls Iqaluit home. She is a young Inuk entrepreneur who has owned and operated her own business since February 2013 — “I Like Cake”, the only specialty bakery in Iqaluit.
Sadie has learned a lot in her experience of opening a business and has drawn a lot on local support resources, including getting a grant from the Kakivak Association – the Baffin region community and economic development organization — to get started. Her interests are in facilitating workshops and coaching other Inuit who are interested in owning and operating their own businesses. She knows training and mentoring can really make the difference for someone who has a dream of becoming an entrepreneur.
