Supported Employment and Mentoring
PMC’s Supported Employment Program connects Indigenous mentees with mentors and/or Elders, who provide support as they navigate the challenges of employment. The program strengthens on-the-job communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution skills, and the development of social and emotional skills for the workplace.
Mentor and mentee partners are surveyed, then paired and supported throughout the program. Training and cultural activities are offered to both mentors and mentees, who are also invited to participate in activities such as stress management workshops and employer networking opportunities. The pairs meet regularly to discuss the mentee’s current employment, as well as their work and education goals.
