Andrea Fox

Andrea spent the early years of her career as a front line social worker, providing crisis intervention and short term support to high risk populations.  She has extensive experience in community development; identifying gaps in services and working with community and agency partners to address those needs.  Both of these roles allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the many obstacles those who are most vulnerable in our society must overcome, and how powerful a group of like minded individuals are when working together to achieve a common goal.

She has always believed strongly in the holistic approach to helping people, addressing all the social determinants of health to improve their quality of life.  Her participation in establishing the South East Ottawa Community Health Centre, the Osgoode Youth Centre, the Police Youth Centre and several Community Houses located within social housing communities, demonstrates her dedication to this philosophy.

Andrea has worked as a manager of counselling services, an executive director of a small non-profit organization and an instructor at both Willis and Algonquin College. She continues to work at Algonquin in Student Support Services.  Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers she open her own private practice in 2013.  She is a specialist in anxiety management and in delivering the Progressive Goal Attainment Program.
